Need suggestions for audio repair shop.
« on: 10 Aug 2011, 06:53 pm »
Hi all. Long time no type. My wife is having major health problems and it doesn't look good. Back on subject though. My Aragon A2D2 has stopped locking onto coaxial inputs. Is it worth getting fixed and where should I take it? Thanks.

sorry to hear that things are not good with your Wife. The place to take your equipment is St Louis Computronics. I don't have the number to hand but I think the website is stlouiscomputronics.com. The owner is Jeff Jackson. Tell him you are one of the GAS guys. From what I've heard Mike Missel has left Alpha Tech recently othewise you could have taken it there.
I hope that helps.

Hi, this is Mike. It is true that I am no longer with Alpha Tech. If any one would like me to repair their equipment, you can email me at mjmsound@yahoo.com.
Use subject: stereo repair.
Happy listening!

Mike,

Will you promise to be crabby like Zaw so it still feels the same if I have you work on some of my gear?

I absolutely recommend Saint Louis Computronics.

Jeff is fantastic to work with.  On 8/5 I took one of my mono-blocks in for replacement of a bridge rectifier (originally installed by Alpha as a repair, but  not to spec as they used a 35 amp rectifier when the manufacturer called for a 50 amp).  Jeff told me it would be about 3 weeks as he was leaving on vacation.  He called me on the 9th to advise the repair was complete.

That's what I call service...obviously that won't happen with every repair but he's certainly earned my business.

I moved Zaw's post to Quarantine, due to the attitude.
From there he can copy, edit, and paste back here the nice parts if he so desires.

LS Electronics in the Overland area, who recently modded and repaired a buddy's old Krell power amp and did a great job.

Mike just helped me with a fuse installation and is working on a free estimate to fix an old transport of mine. He's a stand-up guy!

And now my transport is fixed. The other guys said they couldn't do it...wouldn't even look at it, without a schematic. Mike fixed it in a day. How cool is that?
