MBP+Halide Design Bridge + BDA-1
« on: 10 Sep 2011, 07:09 pm »
Afternoon everyone.  Hope you are having a good weekend.

Just wanted to report back about my reactions to a relatively new toy- Halide Design Bridge USB to SPDIF converter.

MacBook Pro (Pure Music software)/Bridge/BDA-1 is a really terrific combination.  Highly recommended.  :thumb:

Did you try a USB cable direct to the USB input of the BDA? If so, how did they compare?

Agreed. I use the MacBook Pro with Pure Music 1.8 ->Halide Design Bridge->Meridian 861 v6 processor. And now my iPad2 becomes a terrific remote.  :D

It's been a while since I've played around with all the connection options.  I will do this comparison and report back.  Unfortunately, I don't own a good USB cable so I don't know if this will be a fair comparison.  As you probably know, the Halide Bridge comes complete as a single cable.

The Halide Bridge is all about reducing jitter.  So doing without it, when using a laptop, is not a good idea - regardless of quality.
