FS: Zu Soul Superfly (Long Island)

I am ready to pass on a loudspeaker which I've loved dearly.  This is a terrific sounding cosmic carbon pair of one of the most exciting, harmonically developed, dynamically alive loudspeakers I've heard.

This is the 6th pair Zu ever made and I am the original owner.  With proper attention to component matching these provide an extremely engaging and satisfying listen.  The Decware Torii I have for sale in another thread is phenomenal with these.

Theres no scratches, but there are 2 smudges in the back of one speaker and the side of the other which I'll photograph later.  The finish still looks great though.

Retail on these speakers is $3000 plus there is now an up charge (~$500 iirc) for the cosmic carbon finish.

Take these wonderful speakers for $1650 obo

I should add I would be interested in a potential trade towards a great amp (plus or minus cash) to drive my VR-33 speakers.

They seem to like 50+ wpc and I'm looking for a visceral, dynamic and exciting presentation.

As you can see theres two smudges in the rear of one speaker.  This happened when a GIK pannel fell into it, but its pretty much invisible when the speakers are in place.  Theres also a small smudge on the side of another speaker which would really show up in the pictures and is pretty difficult to see.

Theres another smu

Gopher, what are those grills made out of?  Did you get them from Zu or are they aftermarket?  I'm looking for something similar for my sub's passive radiators.  Cool looking.  Congrats on the sale.

They aren't really grills.  They are hard plastic frisbee like discs that Zu ships the speakers with for the purpose of protecting the driver during transport.

You don't want to do your listening with them in place :)

Jack, those aren't grills, they are driver covers that Zu uses for shipping.

Fred, congrats on the quick sale. Hope the VR-33s are treating you well. I imagine you will be back to Zu at some point though. They do a lot of things very nicely when they work in a room, as you know.

Roscoe,

When I move from my current place (unless I really fall for these VR33s) I'll probably explore the used prices of Zu Def 4s.  On less of a budget stretch, I'll probably explore Tekton Pendragons as well.

I think I prefer the FRD sound, but I'd be lying if I said what I have isn't engaging--its just a very different kind of sound.

Fred, you're killing it on the trading post!  :D I guess when you buy the right stuff in the first place, selling it is easy later on.

Hoping to hear some of your new stuff in person soon. Very interested in hearing the Von Schweikerts especially.

I was looking at the picture on an iPhone and my vision isn't that good with small pictures!  They look like cool grills on my phone.
