Danny,

-The max output is typically quoted at 1m.  If you don't have this info, that's fine.  I'll assume 105db is the max.
-97db is not that high...how about 111db horns?  Can it match those?  My guess is no and that software gain will need to be applied.
-All my amps have gain quoted in db.  My F3 is at 13db and my K2 is at 32.88db

-Jim

That will really depend on room size and listening distance.

Not really relevant as you have your own volume control on the amp. So it can easily match anything by turning a knob. It even easily matches the 97db sensitivity of the Super-V.

By the numbers though, a pair of the woofers will be 90.7db sensitivity via 1 watt/1 meter.

Amp gain can be measured by voltage.

FYI, at RMAF a few years ago a pair of Super-V's was easily hitting a measured 105 peak durning music play back. It also did this all the way down to the rock bottom.

That measured 105db level was what we were getting as an in room response about 12 feet away from the speakers. I think the servo amps were turning up to about a 1 o'clock setting. So they had some head room to spare.

You can also run three of these woofers on one amp and get 1/3rd more output again with the same amp.

I have little doubt that they will keep up with any of your horn designs. Regardless of the output capability of some of the horn designs, I doubt anyone will really listen at those levels.

The 97db sensitivity of the Super-V drivers are also rated to handle 400 watts continuous. Regardless of high loud they might really play, no one is going to listen that loud.

Fair enough on all points, Danny.  How would you construct an ob 3-driver / side setup?

I like that you can run 3 of these off the same amp!  I like headroom...

Thanks,
Jim

I think there is a 600w amp also available that will work with 3/side?

You won't need that much power on them.

I think the limit is the xmax, so more power doesn't do anything for you.

Ok, I'm going to give this a shot.  Will start off with 2 woofers per side in an h-fram ob with the xlr version of the servo amp, the A370-XLR (Danny, do you stock this one or do I need to go through Rythmik?).

The xlr version of the amp will allow me to slave an additional amp / woofers if I want to.

Looking forward to it!

I can get you the XLR amps, no problem. You can even go on line and order it all from our web site. Just put in the comments section of the order that you'd like the XLR amps and I will see that those are the ones that you get.

Thanks Danny.  Should I do the w-frame or h-frame if I want to get to 300hz?  I'm willing to do either.

You're going to love it! :thumb:  Good luck with the build.

Danny:

Can you share the sonic differences between the W and H frames, and to what degree?

Thanks,

The W frame left larger panel areas between braces (or between the W) and was more resonant. The H frame divided the box into smaller panels that were less resonant.

Yes.  They (the woofer and amps) are on their way to my builder, Roman.  Will post again when they are set up.  Roman will also be fixing up my Unity horns (they need to be finished and painted).

Do you have a schematic you could post?
