Web Radio, Remote, Pure Music
« on: 9 Aug 2011, 06:35 pm »
I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to best access my fav web radio stations using remote on my Iphone.

First, I am having to "turn off" Pure Music for ANY web radio play whether I use remote or not.

Currently, I have put my fav staions in a playlist and put the word Radio under "artists"  which places them all together in Itunes. Which is OK but seems like a work around.

When I use the "radio" section in Remote- nothing plays. I also haven't figured out how to insert/find the stations I want to access in there.

Any suggestions with a better way to do this would be helpful.

Thanks

srb

I don't think you can add stations to Radio under Library.  I'm not sure what the problem is with playlists as I find a playlist more convenient to use than if I was able to directly add them to the very long list under Radio.

You don't have to edit each station individually with "Radio" as the artist.  You can select all of the stations in the playlist and edit the selection (edit multiple items simultaneously).

The only problem I have with a static playlists is that iTunes orders them below all of the Smart Playlists and you can't change that.  So I create a Smart Playlist with the rule (in your particular case) Artist > is > Radio.  The only thing with a Smart Playlist is the stations have to be part of the Library (which they're not by just putting them in a static playslist), so you will have to drag the stations to the Library at the top to get them to show up in the Smart Playlist.

P.S. I can play the existing pre-configured radio stations under the Radio section from Remote.

OK... I'll answer my own question.

Quote from another forum:

"Pure Music cannot play Movies, TV Shows, or Videos, nor can streamed audio tracks be
played (Internet radio or iTunes Shared files). A fall-back way to play streamed or other
such media is to quit Pure Music and use iTunes, and if you wish to later play file based
audio, relaunch Pure Music. Unfortunately, iTunes controls the connection protocol and
therefore has exclusive control of the audio source."

Regarding managing radio on remote and favorites.

To add a radio station: In Itunes go to Advanced>Open Stream and paste the URL there.

Open the station in "Radio" and right click and add to a Playlist... which I labeled  Radio.

To access your favorite stations in "Remote" go to "Playlist" and then, in my case anyway, click on Radio.
