I miss gondola mtn biking up in Steamboat during summer.  We used to have a timeshare.

Sweat just disappears off skin, and the aspens are kinda cool too.

it's been  :o  hot around here.

Danny, another question if you don't mind my trying to learn more on the finer points of crossover design:

The Jupiter cap value used is a 2.2uF with an additional inductor.  The original crossover is specified with a 2.7uF sonicap without the additional inductor.  Hypothetically, would a 2.2uF sonicap and the additional inductor (insert any brand of cap, for sake of my question, keep the inductor constant for sake of isolating a single variable), by the numbers and or according to raw data measurements, adjust the response curve in the same fashion (in this case, bring down the top end down just a touch and smooth out the curve just a bit) with the final subjective difference in the choice of capacitor being the "color or flavor" of the sound from one cap the next?

In other words, would a change to the "reference" design for the network of a 2.2uF cap and the inductor be considered an across the board "improvement" to the design, or does this trick work only because THIS specific capacitor in THIS value achieves this result?

Thanks again!

Good question really.

Using the same Sonicaps that originally came with the design and just changing the value, plus adding the small inductor to the woofer circuit will have the same effect on the amplitude. The brand of cap used will have no bearing on that.

However, a tweeter like this one is very sensitive to cap types. A cap that leans on the side of sharpness or graininess would not be a good match for it. It is or can be considered an aggressive tweeter as it has high sensitivity, and will really allow a peak to be a peak. So a cap that leans to the side of lushness is a good match.

I had some simular experiences with the old Focal tweeters that I used to be a dealer for. An Aluminum foil Hovland cap made it hard to listen to, but the Tin foil Audio Cap Theta was very pleasing to listen to with it.

You can always get them up and playing then decide if you want them to go in that direction.

And BTW, it is REALLY hot here too. We went 52 days in a row with highs over 100. And we went about 60 days with no rain at my house.  :flame: :icon_frown: <- That's me right there.

Pretty selfish on my part Danny.  Just the other day they did a report here on how bad Texas has gotten hit with xtreme temperatures and drought this year.  I wasn't thinking.

I hope you guys get a break soon.  What you're getting is what we get every year but it has no effect on our economy because we don't grow anything here anyway.  I'm hoping you cool off and get rain real soon.

We've had nothing but a steady string of mid seventies beautiful days with occasional rain up here in the Northwest. It's been both gorgeous and mild.

That's okay. We're real tough too.  :green:
