Was the efficiency of this model always so poor? I was considering these speakers for a future upgrade, but it looks like the efficiency 85/1/2.83 Volts.

That would require significant power, and likely would require a different amp then I have now.

The efficiency was always like this, so to drive them best you really need a good stable amp with good headroom and healthy power. I made a change from two AVM M2 evolution monoblocks each delivering 270w at 4 Ohm to one MC2 audio MC 1250 with  more then 1,2kW at 4 ohm and the change was more then significant, almost like I had a new pair of speakers at home.
So you need power, no matter what the say...

Does anyone know if the 20.7's can be biamped or if that option has been removed like the changes with the 3.7's?

I actively biamp my 20.1's and use 4 x 1,000 watts.

One of the reports indicated that they can't be biamped.
