Need Ultimate Iron for 6C33C SE monos
« on: 18 Jul 2011, 07:17 pm »
I'm looking for recomendations on great sounding output transformers for the 6C33C tube. 600 ohm Primary imp: 8 ohm secondary imp: that will be clean and open full range with a 30 watt rating.

Use will be in SET monos rated at 15 watts. I am looking for square units, encapsulated for top of chassis mounting (they look similar to a Cary chassis)

Even the mighty Google comes up short on options. I am using some custom James trannies right now and I think they may the weak link right now (sound a little closed in)

Any help from the circle's 6C33C tube lovers would be appriciated (brand & source)

Great price suggestion are this EDCOR, just 83 Obamas each:
http://www.edcorusa.com/products/477-cxse25-8-600.aspx Primary=600 Ohms Secondary=8 Ohms, power only 25W

http://www.edcorusa.com/products/478-cxse25-8-300.aspx Primary 300 Ohms version, same price.

http://www.tribute-audio.nl/ Made to order in Holland

http://www.electra-print.com/ Made to order in USA, good sound on the Secondary Silver version.

http://www.ae-europe.nl/uitgangstrafo_engels.htm Made to order in Holland, Secondary Silver wire option.

http://www.sacthailand.com/Transformer.html Famous for silky treble, price just over 300 Obamas/pair, Range=18Hz to 150kHz -3dB, Primary=600 Ohms or 1kOhms, Loads: nominal=250mA, Max=500mA, Inductance=7H at 20kHz, net Weight=3kg. Hand made in Thailand. Models: S-6-6C33F and S-1-6C33F

Also there is the expensive Sweden Lundahl, but not much info on the site:

Thanks full range man, :D

Time to do some home work. Gotta see who does the best sounding work out of those guys. Don't mind spending a little extra as the sound difference in OPT's is as big as output devices in SS amps. last place I want to make a bad move. I'll post the decision along with a pic of the project.
