Cookie Cutter Radio Pop

I found this interesting.  The term cookie-cutter is often used with radio-friendly pop tunes.  I found this example mildly frightening.

The link below is Nickelback's "Someday" is the left channel, and "How you remind me" in the right channel.

It's the concept of formulaic radio pop executed masterfully.  This is exactly what the major labels are looking for; repeatable hits.  Nickelback is a well-oiled money making machine!  I bet there's lots of back-slapping and cigar smoking celebration going on at their label.

By using those drinking-syrup-straight-from-the-bottle musical hooks over and over the logical progression of such music ends in mediocrity.  But it doesn't matter, all you have to do is buy the CD ONCE get sick of it and then toss it.  In 20 years it ends up on a Sounds Of The 00s compilation on a TV advertisement and all the aging folks can get nostalgic about their childhood.  Heh!
