Unexpected Discovery
« on: 30 Jun 2011, 09:11 pm »
My B100SST is on its way to a new home/owner.  While waiting for all of my separates (B25 + 4BSST) to arrive, I have resurrected some relatively old gear so I have something to listen to:

NAD C541 CDP (digital out: Wireworld Starlight 6 coaxial)
NAD Surround Receiver
Bryston BDA-1 DAC
Audioquest King Cobra RCA interconnect

I found the C541/Receiver combination to be superior (i.e. deeper soundstage, more bass, smoother, more full bodied, better overall balance, less fatiguing) as compared to C541/BDA-1/Receiver.

Unexpected to say the least!

That's because the BDA-1 is telling you that you have a cheap transport. :D

Not really... I sold my BDA after a few weeks. For basically the same reason.
No matter what Mr Brown Nose says.
