These hand colored images are taken from original stereoscopic photographs by T. Enami, and were animated from images posted by Okinawa Soba. The images date from about 1895 to about 1910.

That's pretty neat. Obviously 3D can be done without wearing glasses. This was done over 100 years ago and technology is slightly more advanced now. Do you think it would still look 3 dimensional if you sped up the flickering to the point that it wasn't noticeable?

p.s. I thought the guy way in the back-brown coat-was taking a leak :o

Nice!

I didn't know 3D existed back in the early years.

Those Japanese were truly ahead of their time.  ;)

Hey!

That is a combination or should I say alternation between two images.

3D image is nothing new, this where called "stereoscopic photo" Like today back than they use large format camera with two lenses side by side like human eyes that can take two images at the same time. Than they will make prints with those two images side by side to be view with a stereoscope viewer to see the photo in 3D.

Believe it or not some of the stereoscopic picture of famous places were sold as a souvenir.

Actually I almost bought a stereoscope viewer years ago at a flea market here in NYC, but the seller wouldn't take my offer  :duh: As for the stereo card or photos some can cost a lot depend on the subject matter.  :D

Take care,
