Player software
« on: 28 Jun 2011, 10:43 pm »
Was able to get my system setup and playing right away with no errors or other network issues.

My question centers on playback software.  I like that I can create a playlist with the web interface.  What is the possibility that a random feature would be added?

Also, what other software is out there to control the BDP?

I downloaded the MPoD software onto my iPhone, but could not get it configured.  Is there any link out there to detailed instructions on what to put where?  After reading the setup instructions in the BDP manual I kept getting errors.

Tony,

Ok, got it configured and working, thank you very much for that.

Is there a link pointing to instructions somewhere that I can read?  I can't figure out how to use random.  I did go to genre and was able to play all.  Is it possible to do a random play on on a genre or best yet, a random play all on my collection?

Thanks.

On MPod look at the 2nd row from the bottom: the arrow that looks like an S on it's side is the repeat button.  The two arrows that cross is the random button.  The next button is plus for adding to the playlist or two arrows in a circle for replacing the playlist with whatever you select.

If you go to setup click on help and there is info on how to use it.

Hope this helps.

Ok, I get it.  It's off and you touch it to turn it on.  I am so used to a dimmed control being disabled, rather than turned off.

And, because I created a playlist with the website of all, I now can play my entire collection randomly.

This is exactly what I wanted. :D

Now, here is for letting it burn in and here is hoping the digital artificats I was hearing with several streaming media products goes away.

What would you say the average burn in time is if any?

Thanks again.

Hi

I assume you do not mean streaming as the BDP does not stream. Try using the Bryston USB that came with the BDP as the test case. That is taken directly from the masters.

PPS - what DAC are you using?

The digital artifacts are with other systems that you have used - not the BDP??

I did not notice any burn-in change.  Bryston burns them in for 100 hours in order to discover any failures in the infant mortality stage.  My opinion is that any burn in improvement takes place there.  YMMV.

And welcome to the forum.   :D

Yes we have no banannas!

I was making the point that I have been trying a number of streaming media players; some just streamers and others a DAC/streamer combination and I was hearing harsh digital artifacts.

So, I am hoping that the BDP-1, which is not a media streamer, would give me a result I can live with.

I did use the USB, and it was really great - thank you.  I also want you to know that I had no networking issues whatsoever and that I simply plugged in your USB stick into the front, and my HDD into the back, and I was listening to music within 15 mintues.

Thank you.

My DAC is a PS Audio DLIII which was modified by Rick Cullen.  I have it paired with a Woo Audio WA22 headphone amp and am using a pair of Sennheiser HD800 headphones.

Thanks Tony.  Yes, audible digital artifacts with other systems, not the BDP-1.
