Incredibly exciting tweak!

Pigs tails, stuffed into the ports...increases...just kidding      Actually the incredible tweak that I just discovered is Room Treatments.   Specifically, 5 mini-traps from Real Traps, placed on the front wall behind the 626Rs.  Midrange, bass, treble, soundstage, articulation, just about any sonic category you can think of just went sweetly ballistic in sound quality.   Why I have waited so long to do this will forever be my kick myself in the pants audiophile ponderment.  Wasted a lot of good listening years being severly handicapped by my room it seems.

John: I feel the same way.  It's amazing how many of us underestimated the value of treating the room.  At least you discovered it.  Many people have no idea and are obviously missing alot and probably wasting money on upgrades only to find they can't get there never knowing that same money spent on cables could make an amazing improvement if it were spent on room treatments.

John,

Tell us more about this mini-traps. They're pretty cheap if I remember correctly - something like $100-125 each? You placed them on the wall behind the 626Rs and they made that huge a difference - I've been thinking about these for a bit now and am intrigued.

How did you decide where to place them?

Thanks,
J!

You can find all the info at www.realtraps.com

I have a total of six of them in my room and they made a huge difference!!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them.

BTW, they are $180/each.

Placement is easy, wherever you have a room boundry is where you want one.   At $180 a pop, they are more reasonably priced them some, but still, 5 was all I could afford.   So I decided to fully treat the area behind the speakers from floor to ceiling, and one between the speakers, above the RPTV.   I know the 4 I'm using behind the speakers are very effective.  I'm getting used to that sound now to determine if when I put the one in the middle, if it makes much difference.   If not I may try it on a right or left ceiling boundry on one of my side walls.
