Hey Jon,

Well, prices can fluctuate quite a bit.

Standard LTL via RDWY for a pair of N3's from CO to TX is $140.00 and to CA is $175.00.

The do look nice and I have the same question.   Do you mind sharing what stain and topcoat you used?  Did you do anything special to prepare the plywood to take the stain?

Tomorrow morning seems so far away now.

I do have to add that Jon has gone well above and beyond in this situation for me.  He's turned a shipping blunder into not two but three beautiful speakers (I just had to order the kit for the center).  He also would have turned this around a lot faster for me, but school has kept me quite busy, and I haven't had the time to pick these up until now.

But do they ever look to be worth the wait!   :D

Baltic birch takes stain well, just some General stain from Sherman Williams, and a clear coat or four.

Those look very nice, JP!  Your finishes are coming out excellent!

When BB is back in season, I might need to look you up again for another project, if you've got the time.

Oh, and in regards to freight shipping, I sent a pair of floorstanders, crated and palletized, via ABFreight a while back.  If I remember right, it was about $200 door to door from where we're at to upstate New York - top notch delivery crews, great customer service, and they were very helpful guiding me through all the little things that go into shipping freight which I knew nothing about at the time having never done it before.

Yellow was a good bunch of guys in the trucks (in a past life I received/sent a lot of Yellow shipments from a loading dock), but it always seemed to me that they really were set up as a commercial full-trailer type organization, rather than being set up well to do partials and or small/one-time loads.  I would be glad to be wrong, but just my $.02.

FedEx freight is do-able for small freight loads, and is a known quantity as far as quality/customer service, but it was a little expensive compared to the regular freight shippers (again, if I remember right, the load I sent out with ABF ended up being about $350 insured via FedEx freight).  Up side is that they will take loose boxes more readily without crating/palletizing and or adding a surcharge for doing so.
