Wireless speakers for outdoor use

So after getting great suggestions for a cheap and cheerful CD changer, my sister asked me for a recommendation on good sounding outdoor speakers. Because they are in a rental home (and because the space arrangement would make it awkward), they cannot run wires to these speakers. So, who knows about wireless speakers?

We're talking a smaller size deck on this place, so it's not like they have to project out into the great beyond. Need a good bang for the buck cheapie. The wireless distance would be on the order of 20-30 feet, through a few walls although there is an open walk space from the equipment room to the sliding glass door to the outside.

Hmm, if they have an outdoor outlet maybe AC speakers could work. I guess truly wireless speakers would have to be digital from source to destination. That doesn't sound like it would be very cheap.

Yikes! My sis and her friend won't go for that kind of moolah. Maybe fed through the AC line is the way to go.

Hey, that looks like it might be interesting. Although there are as many 1 star reviews as 5 star.

Didn't there used to be a technology that allowed for using the home AC lines as a carrier for audio?

Wireless speakers are usually expensive and will not sound as good as wired speakers. I don't know how the amp in my link below would sound but you can use it outdoors with the speakers.

Another option would be to build a water proof box for your outdoor electronics. You can also hide flat speaker wire under rugs/carpet or go with the neat baseboard speaker wire conduit from Lowes.
