OKKI NOKKI RCM in da house

I finally got my black OKKI NOKKI RCM in here a few days ago, and have been putting it through its paces with a backlog of uncleaned vinyl. Here it is:

I am very satisfied with it. My home built DIY RCM did a good job of cleaning records but it was a slow and noisy process. The Okki Nokki is faster and quieter, not to mention, much better looking.
The platter reverses and the vacumn section is fairly quiet. The suction storage tank needs to be emptied about every 20 records, via the drain hose and plug on the back. I have not yet used the brush or cleaning concentrate that comes with it, since I am happy with the MO FI brushes and Audio Intelligent solutions that I use. It has done a good job of cleaning up some neglected thrift store finds.

I only have a few minor cons with it. The unit has a very light hum when plugged in even though its off, so I unplug the IEC connection at the back of the unit when not in use or doing critical listening. It does not come with a label protector, but I made one out of an old rubber jar lid gripper. The spindle is slightly undersized so I visualy center the record on the spindle before tightening the holddown knob.

People in the UK and EU have had this machine available to them for several years now, but Sumiko has started bringing them into the US this year. If you know where to look, they can be had for less than list price. Mine's a keeper.

Very nice, and I can vouch for the good performance, I bought mine at RMAF last year. In most cases it does a fine job and is very
cost-effective!
