WTB looking for inexpensive sub
« on: 4 Jul 2011, 04:57 pm »
Hi guys,

I have a young friend putting his way thru college and he is looking for a powered sub. He only has $150 to spend tops. I know he won't get much for this amount but if you know anybody or are thinking of upgrading your own system with a better sub, please let me know. I bought him a pair of the Merril Zemmit( I know I just forgot the name of them so spelling is not correct)horns about a year ago locally for a hundred bucks. He dates our best friends daughter and I have on loan to him a M520 integrated with our DAC for now. He needs  some bottom end in his system as the horns don't really go low enough for his bedroom system, he can't play his music to loud as he still lives at home.

So if you have something laying around, please contact me.

 Thanks,
 Bill

Hi Bill you might also check PARTS EXPRESS if you can't find anything close used.

They generally have a couple subs for beginners.

Bill,

How about an NHT SW 10 Series II for $150.00?

Some swirl marks but overall very nice.  Great value at $150.00 to.  I am in Atlanta but have a FedEx account to help w/ shipping.

Try your local Craigslist. I've picked up some very reasonably price audio gear there.

I have a Polk Audio PSW110 200w active 10" subwoofer that I barely used before I got Def Tech speakers with active subs built in. I'll sell it for $100. I'm in NY, btw.

Thank you all who replied, I believe he will be picking up his sub from a very generous AC'er here for $50 today.
