I'm using a Sqeezebox Touch with Sqeezebox Server on my PC and SqeezePad remote.. all via  wireless router connection.  In addition to recurring connectivity problems where Touch doesn't connect to Server or respond to SqueezePad remote and/or shuts itself off, I now have a new problem:

[when I do get a connection going:]  Touch still plays music files streamed from the PC but no longer plays Internet Radio.  The display screens on both the SpeezePad and the Touch show that Internet Radio is accessed and the station is displayed on the screens but I get no sound. Also, I'm getting a this message on the Touch display: "connection reset by remote host".

I'm getting extremely frustrated with Squeezebox Touch... I've owned this thing for a couple of months now and I'm still having the connectivity issues and I'm not a computer geek so I don't understand the communication links between the PC, Sqeezebox Server, SqueezePad and Touch.  It would be nice if I could find a tutorial somewhere about how the talk-paths function between the components so that I might then understand how to properly configure them.

Has anyone had a similar problem with the internet radio not playing and the "connection reset by remote host" message?

Hard to say what the problem might be, but my instincts tell me to start with the PC.

Would you do the following?

1. From your PC, go to speedtest.net and do an Internet speed test.  Report back on results.

2. What operating system are you running, and what are the specs of the machine?  CPU type, memory, etc.

3. How many bars of WiFi connectivity do you have usually?

4. Do you have up to date anti-virus software?  Norton, Symantec, etc.  If so, what are you using?

5. How far away from the wireless router is the PC?  How far away from the wireless router is the iPad?

6. Do you have the latest Squeezebox Server software installed?

Charlie:
Dump the squeezebox software in your PC. Log on to Logitech and reload the newest version of squeezebox software. Worked for me. Had problems. None now. Ask me tomorrow may have some then. Sometimes music servers can be a real big pain. But when they are working right it's like having a big Juke Box.

Thanks for your reply, Wilsynet,

PC is a HP 2700 Pavillion notepad, Intel duo CPU, 1.83 Ghz each core, 3G RAM, Windows Vista 32 bit
Norton anti-virus updates current
Speedtest shows 20.03Mps download & 4.10 Mps upload speeds
Router is 45 feet away, 5 full bars of wireless
Squeezebox Server control panel shows no updates available so I figure I've got the latest version

The spontaneous shutdowns I mentioned never happen on the Touch while a song is playing but it does shut itself off between songs sometimes while Im searching thru the music menus.  The SqueezePad can lose connection momentarily at any time but it usually finds it again back within 10 seconds or so.  Most of the time I can't turn Touch on from the SqeezePad so I then manually turn on Touch from its screen and then Touch searches and finds the PC and then it works.  Biggest problem now is the Internet Radio no longer plays and getting the message: "connection reset by remote host".

Thanks Charles, I'll try that too.  (actually I did that once before and it resolved a different problem I was having earlier)

Internet radio requires a connection to Mysqueezebox.com.  You obviously have a connection to "My Music" and need to find the connection to Mysqueezebox.com There should be a menu selection to enable this.
The first question to answer is, does the PC running SBS have access to the Internet?

It was playing before with Squeezebox Server so I'm sure that Mysqueezebox.com isn't a prerequisite; although I may go that direction if I don't get it fixed.  thanks, Larry

I've that mysqueezebox.com on my SB3 system. But I don't know what it is and I've never used it. I just scroll down the options I have on the SB3 and when I get to internet radio I search for something I'd like to listen to and most of the time it works good. Right now I've it tuned into 93.7 KJZY from Santa Rosa Ca. Coming in with a strong signal.

Fixed it!

First I dumped and reinstalled both Squeezebox Server and SqueezePad to no avail-- then I rebooted my wireless router and now internet radio plays again.  OK, now I know what to do if it happens again.

Thanks all for pitching in!

Glad you got it solved.

Issues that seem to be with squeezebox hardware are often network related, like this.  The squeezebox pieces are not perfect, but in my experience they're pretty darned reliable.

My cheap-ass router, now that's another thing!

I've had a host of problems with the Squeezetouch (but I love the dang thing). I have found resetting the device to factory settings will clear up a host of issues. You'll have to re-enter your wireless router password and reset your output volume, but the whole process only takes about three minutes. Sometimes it's Logitech's server that's down...it'd be nice if they'd post it on their website when that happens, 'cause that glitch can last for several hours at a stretch. Finally, monitor your memory usage....if you see it get steadily higher the more you use it, it might be a defective unit (the problem is called memory leak). Now that I have a new one, things have run much more smoothly. I use mine wirelessly to run Pandora through my big rig. Up sampled to 176, it can't be beat.
