I wish it had single ended connections

'Tis an issue with a lot of the "pro" crossovers.

I think the DCX can be configured for 1-in 6-out. (No hands-on experience but I do recall reading it somewhere.)

It is 3 in, 6 out.  The inputs can be mixed in the unit.  I actually have mine connected to a single ended receiver and amps using home-wired adapter cables.  It works just fine with no noise at all.

XLR to RCA adapters work fine on mine for SE.

Me too.  I had DH Labs make me a 1m cable that is RCA > XLR.  No problems here.

So what can the DCX do that the Mini can't?  I don't need 6 outputs.  Putting a mono signal into the mini I can control four subwoofers which is one more then I plan to have.  So practically what is to gain for an extra $160?

The one reason I use the DCX vs Mini is that it can sum L+R on its own prior to xo and eq.  If you're already mono then no problem for the Mini.

Good point.  Although I can do that for the cost of 3 RCAs and a few resistors. Right?

Sure, or an op amp, etc., just more connectors, boxes, etc I don't want.

Amp? Check! (Parasound HCA1000)
MiniDSP? Check!
Tapped Horn Kits? Shipped!
Drivers? Shipped!

Let the fun begin.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one on the miniDSP/Anarchy tapped horn bandwagon. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I want, but at this point I'm looking at two of the tapped horns augmenting my Omega 3i single driver speakers. I drive the Omegas with a Tubelab Simple SE that I built and a Bottlehead quickie preamp.

I've still got to figure out what I'm going to use to drive the subs. I'm hoping for something cheap and was thinking about just using a plate amp from Parts Express to drive the pair but then I'm looking at dual mono subs instead of stereo subs. Probably not that big of a deal, but still...

I'm also curious if anyone has tried, or given any thought to, the miniDIGI as an add on to the miniDSP. I'm using an apple TV as a music server and would love to run the toslink to the miniDIGI, wire a volume point to the miniDSP, and try going without a preamp.

If that doesn't work for me, I'm also thinking about building a DAC, my Bottlehead Quickie, and the miniDSP into a single chassis so that I can run the apple TV into this Frankenstein device and then pull the outputs to my Tubelab Simple SE and then to the sub amplification. This process might be a little more involved, but could be cool.

Any thoughts?

Well it appears that the miniDSP can't handle input voltage from my preamp.  I have it set on the 2vrms setting and my pre is rated at 2vrms.  Anywhoo back to the drawing board.  Anyone got an extra dcx laying around?

Why would one need a DSP?

What if your preamp has dual subwoofer outs? Would you still need a dsp (only running two subs)? What are some reasons for using a DSP for subs?

So I know have my DCX and all three subs.  I just finished the second tapped horn this weekend.  Well they are functional but currently have no finish.
Now that I think about it I am not sure why I was getting distortion from the miniDSP.  Maybe I could have used it but I gave up pretty quick.
I think Thursday I should have everything in place to start taking measurments.

Can you please explain to me what it is you are planning to do exactly?

The reason I ask is because in my system build I have two subwoofer drivers and plan to buy enclosures and amps for them but don't know what to do beyond that point.

I have a DAC/PREAMP (Emotiva XDA-1) and a CDP and that's all the hardware I have for now.

Sorry to hijack; I thought I could learn something that could help me with my situation in this thread but you guys are talking a few steps beyond beginner. This does, however, seem like the place to be.
