The N2X coupled with a good subwoofer like Danny's servo sub makes an extremely good full range system.

Thanks!  That big room must be pretty cool with the LS9s. :)

In my not-so-big main room (16x25-ish), now having had different sized speakers from small to big-ish in here, I've been learning a lot lately about speaker-room interaction, and I'm picking up that (at least for me), it really comes down to a "right tool for the job" mindset when putting a system together.

Based on the thoughts here, if I had room for a decent setup, and adequate treatment, the N2X would be killer speakers for my weight room.  Once I get my main rig (and room) squared away, I'm going to have to look into it. :)

N3s question

How big does the crossover board need to be cut to?  Also what thickness?  1/4"?

On the N3S that I have built, the the high and low pass crossovers are constructed on two (2) seperate boards. The board are 1/4" MDF and are 4-1/4" W x 5-1/4" long. The crossovers are mounted on the center braces. Attached pictures show how they look.

Thanks Ron.

That's how you do it though.  Right?  That's not the recommended GR way.  Not saying that your way is better or worse but that's not what Danny intended.  Am I correct?  I'd prefer do build it on one board.

The crossovers can be built on one board or two boards. Both are right. It is an individual preference as to which method you want to use. I along with others who have built the N3S prefer seperate crossovers for the high and low pass filters. I think Danny will agree with what I am saying.

Gotcha.  So if I were to build it on one board, what's the prefered size?

A single crossover board would have to be like 4-1/4" W x 10-1/2" L which would be fine for the N3 TL towers, but would not fit in the N3S cabinet. Therefore, the crossovers for the N3S have to be on seperate boards.  Look at the post on 14 May by bprochford titled My N3 Build with Photos. There is a picture of the single board crossover.

Occasionally I like to throw in my 2cents about the N2X. Mine are ported to the front up against the wall with a sealed center channel. Our room is small and they work great--just great. Seriously, Anything larger would be too much. If danny comes out out with a shallower design I would be very curious.

My friends, who notice things like 'quality sound', covet them, and if I had more time, I would build more just for the fun of it. For some music listening we turn off the sub, and let them do their thing and it's wonderful.

The N2X do sound amazingly good. Very transparent, open, and natural sounding, They are the type of speaker you can listen to for hours on end and not develop listener fatigue. Don't think I have ever heard any negative comments about them.

I was also looking at the N2X's and was wondering if you could port it out the front, since where I would want to put it would be in a bookshelf very close to the wall. So a rear ported unit is not ideal. How did you reorient the port so it came out the front? Did you make the enclosure larger?

The N2x are sealed while the N1x are ported.
