Just placed my order for a 93...it'll be here tomorrow.
I can't even tell you how excited I am after reading some of the information on the Vudu website. I knew that Vudu was streaming in 1080p, but I didn't realize they were also streaming in Dolby Digital Plus. I use a multichannel analog pre, which I love. I prefer it to a receiver since I really like the player to do the decoding, and on top of that it's just a fantastic piece of gear (McCormack MAP-1). Anyway, since it's an analog piece, I can't really take advantage of the DD signal on Dish Network. I get great 2-channel sound, and I can even get my DAC involved, but no 5.1. But since the Oppo now supports Vudu, I wondered if MAYBE the Oppo would decode the DD+ and output it in 5.1 via the analog outs. I sent Oppo cust svc and email, and just got it back...and it does exactly that.
This puts my fears to rest about all the changes goign on with Netflix, and the possibility that they are getting away from physical Bluray discs. I enjoy streaming an HD film from time to time, but for the really important ones I like to have BD video quality and the lossless tracks. Even though DD+ isn't lossless, you have to assume that this will soon be an option given how fast the streaming quality is improving.
When I bought my McCormack a couple years ago, I was told analog would be dead soon and it was not worth it...well, analog is plenty viable, and I intend to be streaming DD+, lossless, etc for years to come!
