I really don't know. The DB99 is aging extremely well and continues to hold its own quite easily in today's market. It's also got that powered bass giving it flexibility from 3wpc to well over 200wpc. Fitted with a VSA or Townshend Supertweeter and it goes up a couple of notches higher. IME and O it's rival in the line was the VR-5 SE. Both sounded like little versions of VR-9s but in different ways, the VR-5s mids and highs and the DB-99s mids and bass. If an upgrade would be made available for DB-99s that would improve them as much as a 5 SE to 5 Anniversary does. I'd do that even if it meant sacrificing a dB or two of sensitivity by replacing the tweeter with one of those from the current line. Again IMO only, it's only the DB-99's tweeter that's become a bit dated.
