BDP/BDA in "old" styling?
« on: 14 May 2011, 10:11 am »
Hi James,

Somehow I seem to remember having read you mentioning it being possible to order the new combo BDP/BDA in the old styling with the straight faceplate, and not the new facetted faceplate. I know the old buttons are not available, but it would be very nice to have at least the same faceplates. I believe you then mentioned it to be the "professional" version.
Is this an option?

thanx,
Marius

Hi Marius,

I would have to check - not sure if the new buttons will work on the old BDA-1 faceplates.  Plus the BDP-1 has always had the new buttons so there is no older version of the BDP-1.

The faceplate style did not change just the button sizes.

wow thats fast....
thank you. I believe my dealer still has the bda like shown on your website http://www.bryston.com/bda1_m.html: straight edges, and old buttons. Has anything else changed in the newer version? No technical reason to prefer the new BDA? otherwise I would opt for that one for now....

Hi Marius

Yes I am up early listening to my BDP internet radio - not to bad really :thumb:

Anyway no changes at all in the BDA so if it's a good deal go for it.

great!
And yes Internetradio is getting better than traditional Fm, or even Dab....enyoing it too overhere albeit on my marantz na7004...sorry. Which internet radiolisting do you use?

btw: that brings me to another question: following your tip to the chandos Hirez usb discs I bought some, and are confronted with gaps between the tracks. Is there a workaround for that, or would I simply have to buy the BDP-1   :duh:

Marius
sorry for the mixup in threads this question might give.

Hi Marius

How do you mean gaps? Meaning long pauses? What player are you using?

using the Marantz na 7004 http://us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=HiFiComponents&SubCatId=0&ProductId=NA7004

well, not realy long pauses, but a short silence is making it useless to me right now. Have to change that. Since I use it mainly with classical music. Different tracks are often within the same piece of music, and do not always coincide with an new musical setting, or at least with a pause in music. Feels more or less like stopping the music for turning the page.....

Gee I have not heard of this before. Have you asked Chandos directly?

the other way around then, if I wanted to match my "old" mps-2, bp1,5 phono,  bcd-1 bp26 with the new BDA-1 and BDP-1, would that be possible? And what about my 10b-sub crossover?
thanx,
Marius

Hi Marius.

It would be tough as we have to order 50 faceplates at once of the old style or the cost is very high.

to bad then, seeing your post with the bp26 in new styling.....love to have that in my rack instead of the two different stylings mixed up.
