Calling (connecting) a spade a spade...
« on: 4 Jun 2011, 03:58 am »
Basic question here folks.  Please don't beat me with cheap speaker cabling for asking...

How do I connect a speaker wire terminated with spades to the binding posts on my B100SST?  Where does the spade go?  (i.e. the plastic housing is covering most of the binding post). How does one firmly tighten the spade (i.e. there is no visible tightening screw on the binding post)  I must be missing something painfully obvious here.

Perhaps could somebody post a quick snapshot of a spade connection?

If you go to the Bryston web site and click on amplifiers then click the 28B SST, click the technical tab on the left then open the PDF manual, scroll down to page 3 it shows a nice picture of what your looking for. I know you have a different amp but the binding post should be the same. I didn't see a picture in the B100 manual.

There's a slot for it at the end nearest to the amp of the binding post.

A picture is worth 1,000 words.

Coming from Naim gear, I understand your confusion Headshrinker.  To further clarify James's pic, the think of the binding posts as big plastic screws.  Unscrew it a little, slide the spade into the slot as shown (although mine slide in from underneath), and tighten.

Thanks everyone.  The binding post was so tight, I didn't know where it could be unscrewed to allow the spade to enter and attach.  Just figured it out.
