ODYSSEY AUDIO IMPROVEMENTS AND QUALITY ISSUES
« on: 18 May 2011, 12:48 pm »
Hi there everybody at Odyssey Audio Forum…

Being an Odyssey Audio passionate ever since I first purchased the stratos monos in 2001
which have been running satisfactorily in my system although I’m planning on converting them someday way beyond the current kismets layout, I believe we all trust Klaus Bunge’s statements released lately as below-mentioned providing that Odyssey Audio abides more and more by its
main philosophy of price-affordability as well as the common rules of ethic craftsmanship
pursuing perfection of sound without being influenced by the foolish and fast mass production pace of our world of profits  ….

To chant slogans as an old hi-ender of the early Eighties I would say:

Klaus, keep researching high quality components as well as improving the sound of
Odyssey Audio Amplifiers without notice regardless of the 1000 units sold so far. …

But please take your time and do not precipitate your production your improvements whatsoever
as most companies do nowadays, thus; jeopardizing their quality and reputation. ..

Make sure that your long 20-year warranty life span you grant us is an authentic witness of a traditional German-based company assembling in the United States featuring high standards of
RELIABILITY AND QUALITY !!

That’s the way hi-end is meant to be….

Regards
Toby

Incredible what they do with these IC's, how ultra high their values are.
Soooo,  we have had a blow up of amps so far 6 times over 12 years, with well over 1000 x amount of amps out there.  We're talking about a really bad one, burnt parts or blown caps etc.  Why ???  Either owner problems with parts of the system or mishandling or parts failures,

Every single upgrade over the course of 3 years were part of the path to the Kismet amp.   Glass Ceiling or SE +++  or special references,  these are names that were between me and my customers,  never official,  and also helped me to pin down the stage of development.
Anyone of these iterations are better than the stock amps,  for sure.

Couple that with the fact that we do at least 10-15 % custom amps,  then you can see that it is hard for anybody to completely pin down the exact model of some amps.  But so what ???  Even old, 1997 prototype and first 1998/1999 production amps still work flawless and sound good.  Are newer amps better ???  Of course they are.  We found a design that is very good, that we love,  and we stick with it and get the last bit of extra performance out.  As much as we can.  Look at the results !!!!

The one thing that I can promise all of you is that I won't sit still.  If we find improvements,  we'll put them in there.
And no,  I won't have Mk II, Mk III Mk IV designations,  etc.  since this is inherently unfair to the customer and in nearly all cases just a means of gaining more profits for manufacturer.
