Tweeter Substitution For Texas Revelator Towers
« on: 15 Apr 2011, 08:02 pm »
A while back Rick designed a nearfield monitor for me that he dubbed the "Vicino".  The design uses SB Acoustics drivers and in my nearfield application they put a smile on my face every time I light them up.

Now I am thinking about assembling a pair of Rick's TRT's (Texas Revelator Towers).  The design is similar to the Zaph Audio ZRT 2.5's but I am certain that Rick's crossover design is different and he also uses one 4-ohm and one 8-ohm Revelator driver compared to the two 8-ohm units employed in the ZRT 2.5's.  I believe Rick's design utilizes the same Scan-Speak D3004-6600 AirCirc tweeter as the ZRT 2.5.  I just came across a pair of Scan-Speak D2905-9900 Revelator tweeters for $240 (for the pair).  The price is great, but I don't know if the higher crossover point for the 9900's would be usable in the 2.5 application of Rick's TRT's.  Any TRT owners out there who might have an opinion on this?

The tweeter can be substituted but the crossover would need to be changed.
