RePlay Gain question
« on: 28 Mar 2011, 01:21 pm »
I'm assembling a compilation to burn off to a DVD or CD.  Most of the tracks are FLAC, a few are MP3 and it is essentially one track per artist/album.  I want to avoid jarring volume changes between tracks (playlist order cannot be changed).  Foobar gives me three different choices when applying ReplayGain:  (1) scan per track gain, (2) scan selection as a single album or (3) scan selections as albums (by tags).

If I apply ReplayGain to all the tracks at once, which alternative should I apply?

I scan (and then of course Apply) per-track and have had good results.  I believe (and I am far from an expert on the topic) the per-track method normalizes to  a standard db level.
