Thanks for all the various inputs.

I would have went with a .5b (I think) originally but it didn't have the inputs
for amount of vcr's and tape decks and phonos I had at the time.
Before Bryston (BB) I had 2x100 watt amp NAD's bridged but haven't really
paid then any attention since they were BB and am out of the loop in
what they are doing these days.

A Denon PRA-1100 is what I bought and used up until a year ago or so.
I've been trying to force myself to grab a used preamp due to price but just
haven't found anything that turns my crank yet.

Really I was hoping to spend around $300-400max (I'm still running on old
speakers) but reality soon set in. I find that for focusing on music I "need" the
bryston hifi but for general background noise anything will pretty much do.
Right now it's about 25% focusing, 75% blurry  :)

We'll see what happens.

IMO,

I would save up some extra money and buy a used Bryston.  On Audiogon there is a BP25 preamp selling for $1100.

The product is under warranty for the next 11 years!!

Best,

John

Fair enough. But, he's better off with a used Bryston preamp! :D

No doubt !   :)
