Candela Ribbon cable ?
« on: 11 Mar 2011, 11:04 pm »
Just received my Candela pre, bought preowned and unit was bounced around in shipping. After cleaning unit up, I noticed that the ribbon cable from the selector switch to the output board was 99% off. I removed it and now am unsure which way it goes back on. Cable has 7 openings and only 6 pins on the output board. Can anyone take a pic of cable going to output board connector? Just want to make sure it is connected correctly.
Thanks  :thumb:

I hope this works but it isn't very clear which side goes where.

Here's another shot from straight overhead...

Looks like it's offset from this view - one pin to the left?

Gvt1911,

You got the connector right as seen in your close up picture  :thumb:

A couple notes as this issue has happened before during shipping. This ribbon cable only provides the input switching and goes between the selector switch (front) and the input board (back). There is no audio signal going through this cable. The cable has seven conductors and has a black mark on one side. As seen from the top front, the black mark should be on the right side as connected to the selector switch and all seven positions are used. Then has a 360 degree loop as it goes to the back - where is connected with the black mark to the left. Only six pins are used at the input board starting from the second male pin on the board. The female connector at the input board will have the seventh conductor(to the right) not connected as seen in the close up picture provided by Gvt1911.

Thank you,

Alex

Thank you all for the help...Unit is up and running and tube rolling has begun...I will also try bypassing the Sonicaps with their teflon 0.01mfd caps I have lying around from my Dodd preamp...Seems like this is going to be fun...I will also try to make up some aluminum plates to cover the glass with the logo...It looks MUCH better with a black plate going straight across in the back...We all know the tubes are in there anyway...I will post pics when I have them...
Cheers!  :thumb:
