I'm designing a new custom 3 way speaker and have enlisted the help of Danny to design the crossover. I think Danny can do a wonderful job with the speaker drivers suggested, but he has asked me to consider some of his already created DIY kits or drivers as possiblly better alternatives.
I don't doubt his experience or ability to design a great speaker, but I think of audio more like food. I know the ultimate idea is to reporoduce the source material exactly as recorded, but people are just different and like different sounds just like someone might prefer chocolate ice cream over vanilla. Does that make one person right and one person wrong? Well, maybe to someone, but I don't think so.
With that said I'm looking to find someone local to the Dallas area that might have some DIY kit of Danny's so that will allow me to listen and compare them against a speaker using some of the same drivers I'm thinking of using in my next 3 way. Just wondering if I should keep the drivers I'm familiar and currently happy with or maybe look into swapping them with other drivers suggested.
Thanks,
Nate
