What PC are YOU using on your BUSS???
« on: 27 Jan 2011, 04:15 pm »
Hey all,

If you own a Majik, RevB or Uber BUSS, what power cord are you using???

Dave was nice enough to remember that I was interested in a BUSS a while ago,, so when a trade-up customer of his came along, Dave offered me a RevB he had available for a great price... A no brainer price! Thanks Dave! You rock!

My RevB will be arriving in a day or two and I completely forgot about the 20A IEC factor... I knew but having no technical background, it wasnt until I looked up an image to realize what I needed.

If ya stop by this thread and own one of Dave's units, post your power cord and maybe this can be helpful for others down the way as well...

On my MuthaBuss I use this http://silversonic.com/docs/products/RedWave.html from the wall and inside the unit.

On my UberBuss, I'm using a high current model VH Audio Flavor 4 PC with Oyaide gold plugs.  :thumb:

On my Majik Buss I'm using a NOS Western Electric buss cord custom-made by Triode Pete replacing a Pangea 9 and a VH AUdio Flavor 4 (both were tried but the new cord is amazing).

I do make a power cord specifically for the BUSS series.  It is a cryogenically treated 12ga cable with Wattgate connectors (either 15A or 20A IEC) and retails for $325.00 the Furutech connector version is $405.00 for the 15A IEC/Edison plug version or $425.00 for the 20A IEC/Edison plug version.

jriggy - your 20A cordset is on its' way.

I have found the power cords going from the wall into the BUSS do indeed have a huge impact on the overall sound of all components being plugged into it.

I have used a Pangea 9 on it for quite some time, and thought it did a great job for the money. I have since replaced it with a WyWires Juice power cord and it has made a fantastic upgrade. A little increase in soundstage, but the most improvements come from a more organic sounding presentation. Removes a little "bloat" from the bass and everything just seems clearer and has more separation.

I'll have to try one of Dave's Furutech cords sometime, but source upgrade tweaks are next for me. :)

I have been using a few Sablon Audio Robustos on both my sources and pre with fantastic results... With such a low noise floor, I am thinking of adding one in this position as well... It was suggested the Voodoo Cable IEC adapters as a good way to try my different PC's in this location...

highfilter's statement of this cord position making a huge impact definitely makes me want to experiment.

Dave, Thanks so much for getting a 'stock' 20a cord my way today. Greatly appreciated!

I worked very hard to make the BUSSes as neutral as possible.  They don't really have a flavor, per se'.  They allow the units that are attached to them to be just more off what they are.  Same with my power cabling.  Pretty much I think I have succeeded.

The power cable going into a BUSS (any of them) will set the over all system character.  Have fun    :thumb:
