Bruno!

Sasha Cohen Baron's latest (so far as I know).  Anybody seen this?  Herr Bruno does not miss a beat on 'becoming famous'.  Celebrities, publicists, media.  What a total frickin deadpan riot!  He makes parody of everything/visits a judo expert to learn how to defend himself against a homosexual with a dildo/goes to Marine officer candidate boot camp/consults a sex therapist, etc, et al.  The supporting cast is beautiful.  Where do these guys come from?  Nothing is out of bounds in this spoof. . The Wrestler, race relations, nothing.  He gets some sex education, too :shake:.  Very funny!

Brüno is one of the funniest movies I've seen in my entire life!  I thought Borat had some funny parts but Brüno was ten times better.  It's definitely shocking in many, many parts- and not one to take the kids to!- but if you're not easily offended (and have a strong stomach!) it's not to be missed! :thumb:

Between Bruno and Borat, I laughed so much that I darn near gave myself a hernia. I've seen both films several times and I laugh every time. Seems like people either love these films or hate them...not much in between. Most people who seem to hate them (the ones I've come across anyway) focus mostly on what Sacha Baron Cohen is doing, which repulses them. But IMO, they are missing the brilliance of these films. The brilliance is in the reactions that his behavior brings about in others. Both movies say a LOT about our society, and that aspect of it was both fascinating and entertaining.

Very NICE!  :thumb:

Bruno is freakin hilarious!  Not for the uptight-upright, perhaps.  Hey, don't get any ideas.  How did they make this movie?  It's forkin ingenious!  I am completely serious.  It's a blast!

Awesome movie!!!! :thumb: My favorite of his.
Don't forget AliG if you have not seen his first movie. Many funny moments in this one as well, and overall a very entertaining comedy.

Is it just me or are Cohen's movies terrible for repeat viewing? I remember my stomach actually being sore from laughing so hard the day after I watched Borat the first time, but I watched it for first time in a while last week and I may have laughed twice.

I gotta disagree here.  I loved Borat and I like stupid/risky humor.  I liked all the Jackass movies for instance.

But to me, parts of Bruno were funny but mostly I think it seemed forced and contrived.  Trying for shock value rather than real humor.  I just found it tacky.

The pigmy sex scene I found pointless except for shock value, as no one was unknowingly being embarassed.

I'm with Josh on this one.  After Borat, I was really looking forward to Bruno and did not find it as funny as Borat.  I was a big fan of the HBO series (Ali G) and always thought the Borat character was the funniest.  Anyone who hasn't seen the series should check it out.  Lots of the movie scenes were recycled from the TV show.

Don't get me wrong, both movies were funny and worth seeig but Borat was my favorite.  Jakshemash!

ditto x2, I'm with JoshK and Jackman.  Bruno was using too much shock value rather than real humor.  I thoroughly enjoyed Borat and Ali G skits.  Sitting through Bruno this weekend reminded me of watching "MacGruber" recently.
