I have two outs on my diy pre-amp, can I send one directly to the sub amp?  If so where do I connect on the sub?

Also can I have my 2 channel and my avr connected to the sub at the same time connected to different inputs ?

Assuming that the output on your preamp is volume controlled then that would be perfect. If it isn't you will be able to tell very quickly as the volume on the sub won't change with the volume on the preamp.

You can hook it up to either the left or right input on the SA-1. Whichever one you don't use, hookup your AVR to the other input. The only challenge you might have is level matching the output of the sub to both the AVR and the preamp, but if you have enough adjustment on the AVR it should work fine.

Edit: realized that you will need to use the left and right output on your preamp to the left and right on the SA-1, so you won't be able to have them both hooked up at the same time without adding a switch box.

I do use the volume on the pre amp to control volume.  I don't actually want to use them at the same time.  2 channel=music and avr = movies.

I meant without unplugging one and plugging in the other one.

Oh, I forgot that that it also has an LFE input. You could use that from the AVR. It bypasses the custom circuit on the SA-1, but it probably isn't critical for your application.

I can't think of any reason why it would hurt the amp if you accidently had both inputs live at the same time.
