Thanks Wayne -- you beat me to the announcement. The beauty of HiFi 'Zine is that we are not limited by page count or ad layout so we can stretch out and allow interviews or articles to run. Of course with Albert, he's naturally enthusiastic about sharing his ideas and thoughts on speaker design and the audio industry so we let the interview run and run. Glad you enjoy it.

To beat Wayne is not easy as I know.

After I met him in Denver I know he is a very special man with a real hart of gold to support the goal we are all try to reach, Reproduction of Reality!

A real nice story Wayne and mr. Delacroix.

Thanks for sharing,

Cor

VR-22 you say? Hmmm, this might be in my financial wheelhouse...although I am quite happy with the VR-2s really.

Terrific interview Patrick!!  You captured the essence of Albert,, tirelessly moving  spkr audio design forward and providing listeners a you are there musical experience from the comfort of there own homes.  All of this while, offering affordable speakers and models that can work for any room at all price points.. It'll be a sad day when Albert admits the quest for the best is over,, that he achieved the ultimate...

It'll be great to see Albert grow the FPS design(multi-cell microtransducer arrays).  I happen to be the owner of a small desk top design that sounds terrific. A decade or so ago, 2002, FPS had a static display of their floor standing models at CES and I  had hoped Albert would have a hand in the evolution of product and distribution.  Looks like he's working on it!

Pretty funny stuff. I especially chuckled at the "burning helium." :)

Albert will be tweaking his designs right up to the day they lay him to rest in a triple-wall mdf coffin with dacron lining...likely in gloss black.  When you're as passionate about something...anything...as he is, quitting by choice probably isn't on the table.  I often wonder what that's like

I have to admit that the "burning helium" tweeter had me scratching my head a bit...probably meant "hydrogen" or something.

No, I think he just doesn't know the difference between combustion and a plasma. The Hill tweeter definitely used He.

As technical editor, I should have caught that. What can I say, I had a lot to do before Christmas :dunno:

If you're interested in the Hill tweeter, this page here has some pretty cool information and images:

OK, plasma makes more sense than burning anything really...wasn't familiar with that tweeter. Very interesting.

Plasma is a state of matter. It also comes very commonly with combustion. What's the big deal? Haven't you ever seen a candle flame modulated? Go on youtube.

The helium is heated and the electrons get stripped off in the process creating the corona. Not all plasmas exist in a vacuum or are created in one. In the case of the Hill tweeter, sorry to say there is combustion involved.

Maybe somebody doesn't understand Plasmas.

I'm thinkin I've heard the Hill or similar plasma in an old high end design.  Can anybody refresh me with the name of that speaker?  I remember my impressions still.  Thanks.

Thank you veddy much.  I think that must have been it cause I remember a bit about it being encased in gas.  I heard a Joni Mitchell tune for one and the tweeter was as fast and massless sounding as anything I've heard but was also white hot at least in that application.

..and it produces ozone!  You buy one of these babies and perhaps go back to using aerosol cans?   :duh:
