This line stage started out as a single tube 6BQ7 unit mated with Don's lighting bolt 300B amp.
I subsequently sent it to Don to have it upgraded to a 2 tube unit because I felt I wasn't getting enough juice.Well the mod worked but I still felt it was lacking.
So I went to a Audio technician friend(who works for a very respected audio salon in Bloomfield, New Jersey)and asked him to see what he could do to make the unit really shine. Now don't get me wrong,it sounded really good, but I wanted more air, transparency and juice.
So here's what he added:
Changed the tubes from 6BQ7 to Cryogenically treated 6C45PI.
Installed an Alps Potentiometer.
New chrome volume control,to match Don's lighting bolt design.
Added a separate power supply with a 3 foot cord.
Double chokes for power filtering, featuring plate choke loaded circuitry .
Caddock & Mills resistors.
Jensen Paper in Oil caps.
Sound damped selected areas in the chassis.
Herbie's Sound lab feet.
Mute switch disabled to maintain signal purity.
This unit made the rounds at various NY audio mini-raves where it
was well received.
Some thought it easily beat out a VAC standard, which was present at one of the gatherings.

This is a killer unit that produces a really transparent, wide emotional presentation.
All told I put in about $1,000 in parts and labor,so why am I selling?
I decided to put the money into my vinyl rig and use an integrated for now.I know I'll regret selling this wonderful piece but I'm in a vinyl groove right now(pun intended)and gotta move on.
asking price gets 3day money back guarantee
The unit is in excellent condition.
Unit will be double boxed.
PayPal add 3% fees.
