James.......Thanks for linking my Bryston 10B Sub active crossover review for the readers here.  The Bryston 10B Sub has taken my two channel tube system in the studio to an entirely new level.  I couldn't be happier with the 10B Sub.  Great product.

James.......I have read that all Bryston products do time on the burn-in table before being boxed and shipped.  Just curious about the Bryston 10B Sub active crossover, how is that tested, and how many hours burn-in does a typical 10B get before shipping?

Volks.......Thank you.  I have been an AudioCircle member for about 2 1/2 years, and lurk here often.  This is a fun audio forum.  I will try to be more involved.  Since I just bought the Bryston 10B Sub I thought it was time to join the fun.

Hi

James.......Thank you.  There was so little sonic signature change from the first hour of use to over 100 hours on the 10B Sub that I felt sure there had been a burn-in period at the factory, just wasn't sure how long.

Hi James,
Do you have any nice and clear picture of the 10B Sub in silver faceplate?  I didn't know it's available until saw one in a-gon.  Thanks.

Hi Klao,

No I am sorry I do not - they are only built in silver as a special order.

James, could you tell why Bryston never built a 3-way stereo XO? Wouldn't there be a market for it? I know the 10B can be transformed into a mono 3-way unit but you only have 24dB slopes available this way and I like the possibility of using asymmetric slopes.

A stereo 3-way XO with 6/12/18/24 slopes, 0°, 90°, 180° or 270° phase selector (as you have in subs) to compensate for the phase shift induced by the selected slope and adjustable Q would be nice. If there would be no room in the box for the XO circuitry and PSU, it could be used the external MPS2.

Hi FM

We have built custom 3-way crossovers for speaker companies in the past but nothing under the Bryston name.

This brought a smile to my face, for one company your right there is no 'Bryston' on the front of the product.

But the box might be a clue

Of course PMC use Bryston as the base for their active x overs

Hi,
You can have 6/12/18 dB per octave roll off in the 10B STD and 10B Sub units in 3 way Mono mode.

You can order a 10B for use with the MPS2 external power supply called a 10B EPS - Thats the next stage in my system to use the MPS2 to power my 10B's.

Hope thats of help.

Cool review, man.

vegasdave.......Thank you.  The Bryston 10B Sub has exceeded my expectations.  It is totally transparent in the signal chain, is absolutely silent, and offers all the crossover control functions I need.  After weeks of extensive listening in the system, I have settled on 80Hz as the best crossover point for my Sonus Faber Guarneri Memento's and the McIntosh XLS112 active subwoofers.  I am using an 18dB slope on the low pass, and a 12dB slope on the high pass.  The improved results are substantial.  The Bryston 10B Sub active crossover is a great product.

The more I listen to the 10B Sub in the two channel tube system the more impressed I am with its function and purpose.  By controlling and routing 80Hz and below to the two subwoofers, the SF Guarneri Memento's have revealed much greater detail in the midrange and lower midrange audio spectrum, producing a more transparent and involving presentation.  The mid-bass driver in the Memento seems to be able to flesh out female vocals like never before.  Last night I was listening to Diana Krall - The Girl In The Other Room on an SACD disc.  Her voice was so clear and present in the room I could practically feel her body heat.  I played "Temptation" three times in a row.  The sound system sounded wonderful before the introduction of the Bryston 10B Sub, but is has been elevated to a whole new level now.  The 10B's transparency is astonishing, too.  A truly amazing product.
