Also where to you all put the X'over boards?  Directly behind the woofers?  Do you no-rez that area?  How do you connect the the hookup wire to the woofers?  Any Pics of that?

I hope the big circle is facing the woofers, cause thats how I started glueing up my cabinets.

Thanks
Robert

I mounted the high pass filter board on top of one brace ( woofer compartment side) and the low pass filter on top of the other brace ( woofer compartment side). The boards were secured at all four (4) corners of each board using #6 x 1" long hex head sheet metal screws. Also, I used 1/4" thick rubber washer standoffs between the bottom of the boards and the brace at all four (4) corners. The woofers were connect by running the wires from the low pass filter to one woofer and then running wire from that woofer to the next woofer.

The big circles on the braces should be facing the woofer.

Thanks for the info Ron.

Is there an issue, when I make the tweeter cut out and recess, with the fact that my router bit is a bit undersized?  I'd say I'm off by about 1/32 on the hole size.  I know we aren't building space shuttles but the tweeter is recessed in the hole...

Just chase through your 1/8" diameter pilot hole with the bit a few times to make it a loose fit for the pin and it will increase the diameter of the hole that you are cutting if you make a couple of passes around it, pull it a little in the right direction, and hold your mouth just right.

Thanks for the info Ron.

Good idea!  If that doesn't do it I can always use a larger bit and move the pin in the appropriate amount...

Ok I need to vent about the shipping (no fault of Danny's).  25-10 parcel leaves Danny's.  Then

"2010/10/28   01:24      International item has left the origin country and is en route to Canada"

and then

" 2010/10/31      11:10   MISSISSAUGA   International item arrived in Canada and will be reviewed by Customs"

Now I don't know about you guys but by road and heading north, from the moment you leave the US it doesn't take 3 days to get to Canada.  When you leave the country of origin (the US) you are here. What did they do go through  Alaska?

Anyway let's say I can accept that.  Next

"2010/10/31     18:53   MISSISSAUGA   Item processed at postal facility
15:43     MISSISSAUGA   International item released from Customs for processing by Canada Post"

That was quick  :thumb:.  And then

"2010/10/31   18:53   MISSISSAUGA   Item processed at postal facility"

That's it.  :duh:

Mississauga is a 6 hour car drive from my place.  Even by horse and buggy they should be here now...

I hope they are assembling the goddamn things...

Come to papa!

I don't know if it helped but I e-mailed a complaint to Canada Post on Friday.  This morning there seems to be movement and progress of a sort :
"2010/11/15   20:11      International item released from Customs for processing by Canada Post"

Sounds like they want to blame in on customs.  Oh well, at least someone scanned it so it should be moving my way and here very soon. :smoke:

I mistakenly assumed that  in the options for these kits when you choose "SoniCaps and Mills resistors"  you got Platinum bypass caps. You don't.  And I actually don't see anywhere on Danny's site to order Platinum bypass caps, what gives?

I don't think the site has been updated to reflect the Sonicap platinum bypass option.

Yeah if I recall he mentioned that he hasn't seen enough people ordering them to add them to the page. If you want them I think you need to call and order them.

You'll have to call to order Platinum by-pass caps. Supply on those has been iffy and I take what values I can get when I can get them. Fortunately any of those small values work well as by-pass caps.

OK.  Are they expensive?  Do they make a big difference?

I have used the platinum bypass caps and in my opinion they do make an audible improvement. Noticed an increase in space between musical instruments and better detail. Others who have used them have similar opinions. I think they are worth the extra cost.

Agreed.  I like them best when bypassing ALL the caps that have a signal running through them.  In my setup, that means 3 platinums per speaker.
