New Hsu HB-1 MK2 with PAT5/FET-II and Omega III 260
« on: 25 Oct 2010, 08:59 pm »
Just got my brand new Hsu HB-1 MK2s today, hooked `em up to my PAT5/FET-II Omega III 260 combo, and I`m in funky heaven!  And so far, I`ve only listened to digital stuff (flacs and mp3s) stored on my computer.

I will say one thing about the HB-1s, though.  From Prof. Hsu`s standpoint, they may be a little too good.  My next purchase was going to be either the STF-1 or STF-2 sub, but the bass is so good that I think I`ll just listen to these puppies all by themselves for a few months before I spring for the sub...

I just googled the HB-1 Mk2's and it's a good thing my wife was not around to see what I was reading. They look to be high on WAF while also being audiophile eye & ear candy!  :duh: resist resist resist :o ...Ahh, that's better 8)

Would love to hear your impressions. I've been looking at those.

Loved my Klipsch Forte's with their horns way back when. I'm hoping the HSUs would give me some of that dynamic bliss of the Forte's while still being able to hide them from my wife  :D

My impression so far is extremely positive, but keep in mind I'm old, have blown ears, and just recently (like 2 or 3 months ago) got into AVA eqpt after having been a fan for 30+ years.  It'll take a lot more listening before I will feel comfortable expressing any kind of opinion here, but let me just say that, so far, it's been strictly a musical experience.  And I sprung for a used Hsu STF-2 sub that I saw on Audiogon that went for a very good price.  I'll have more to say when it gets here, but again I suspect I'll have to force myself at some point to go from 'just listening to the music' nirvana to a critical mindset where I'm trying to make an objective comparison of a current experience to the memory of one that I've already decided was inferior.

Stay tuned - I've been trying for 40+ years, and with the help of the Sonic Research ST-200 and the Buzz Feiten tuning system, I can now get kind of close...
