Question for Torus owners
« on: 25 Oct 2010, 06:06 pm »
Hi guys.  I've got a Bryston 4bsst2 and BP6 preamp.  I am intrested in the new Bryston BIT power conditioners that will be rebadged torus units.  I have a decent conditioner now which I plug everything into except my amp which runs to the wall directly.  I don't want a power conditioner to limit current to the amp.

Do you guys plug these big bryston amps into the torus?  No problem?  Good results?  Any thoughs are appreciated...  :)

Yes - I have the 20amp Torus and I plug my 14BSST into it.  The first time I seriously listened to the Torus in the store a friend who hates plugging amps into power conditioners demoed the unit with amps plugged and unplugged and it was really noticed when it was not plugged in.

Hi

The Torus conditioners are really not cheap to buy. So you might consider selling the 4Bsq and buying a new 14B instead of a keeping the 4B and buying a Torus conditioner. The new  14B have the transformers used in the Torus that gives it more jam. It is also choke filtered unlike the 4B so its a cleaner amp. If you have a conditioner already, use it for your front end and pre, plug your 14b into the wall. thats what i do.

My 28s are plugged into one Torus and they are never coming out, power in reserve,            definately non current limiting.
They make a huge difference, with the new transformers in the newer sq.amps, you might not need it EXCEPT for the protection the Torus gives.
I'll be doing my transformer upgrade and I know they will be plugging right back into my Torus :thumb:..

I have the Toorus CS15 and the 7BSST2's with the upgraded transformer and capacitors.  I plug the 7B's, BP26, Esoteric X-05, VPI Classic and FM tuner into the Torus.  Compared it to removing the 7's and plugging them into the wall and prefer all plugged into the Torusn overall.

I don't own a Torus but if I did I would plug everything into it.  I am currently using a PS Audio Quintet and everything including my 7BSST2s is plugged into it and it works fine.  Surge and Spike protection is absolutely required where I live.
