If you're going to have to ship your preamp across the Atlantic or even across Europe, your best bet may be an external phono stage.  Simaudio's LP3 and Dynavector's P-75 are excellent phono stages for the money, offer great reliability, and are very flexible with cartridges.  Not sure about prices and availability in Italia though.  The Dynavector may be easier to track down. 

I'm probably going to get flamed for the Simaudio suggestion, being a Bryston board and all.

We may have to slightly mod that quote from the Wizard of Oz :

Well after facing the same decision..I decided that an outboard Phono stage was the best for the long term.

1.If Bryston releases a new preamp I won't have wasted the money when selling it.
2.More flexible in that you can use an outboard phono stage in any system.
3.I get to keep the BP26 as it was factory designed.....For me that was important,it may not be to you.

That makes sense...If I could have afforded the outboard phono stage, I would have bought it. But, I went for the internal one in my BP6. Much less expensive.

i bought 2 bryston bp26 from hong kong in us dollars and recieved them in creta Greece with no issue at all .Ext phono bp1.5 is for sale new from same seller  wich for me is highly recomended. i think is 1300$ us with fast shiping and now that us$ is so low i think its a bargain .
