Speakers headed to RMAF

We will probably have SoundScape 12's, Veracity HT3's, Veracity HT2-TL's and SongTowers with RAAL ribbons at the show.

Here are some pics of the HT2-TL's...

And a close-up...

These HT2-TL's were done with a double dye process over fiddleback maple.

Here are the SongTowers...

And a close-up...

These were done in maple burl.

Both of these pairs will be available for sale at or after the show.

That is a piece of art that I could live with!  I see four distinct faces in the centerline of the book matched side close-up shot, maple burl pair.

As always, beautiful work, sir.
EDITAnd I didn't even see the wolf!

My wife has no problem shopping for the things she wants, unless it's clothes, which oddly enough, I need to force her to do.  Just need to keep my composure at RMAF.  Serenity now...

We've had a few people inquire about these speakers, wanting to know what the RMAF "show special" pricing will be.  Since some people may not be able to make the show, but might like to take advantage of special pricing on these pairs, I thought it would be a good idea to share this information beforehand.

Each year we build "special" pairs of speakers much like auto companies do for the auto shows.  This means putting a little extra into them.  So here is how it all sorts out.

Here is a rundown on the double dye Veracity HT2-TL's:

Base price Veracity HT2-TL's             $4199
Hardwood trim/full baffle                      300
Veneered plinths w/ hardwood trim        200
Fiddleback sycamore (maple) veneer      400
Special double dye job                         200
                                                    _____
TOTAL for this pair                           $5299
15% show special discount                (  795)
                                                    _____

Show price                                     $4504 (plus shipping if required)

And here is the rundown on the SongTowers:

Base price of SongTowers                 $1899
Hardwood trim/full baffle                      300
Veneered plinths w/ hardwood trim        200
Burled maple veneer                            350
RAAL ribbon tweeter upgrade                700
                                                    _____
TOTAL for this pair                           $3449
15% show special discount                (  517)
                                                    _____

Show price                                     $2932 (plus shipping if required)

If you are interested in either of these pairs but will not be at RMAF, send a PM or email us before the show starts.  We can then hold them for you.  If you will be attending, you can pick the speakers up on Sunday afternoon at 4PM and avoid all shipping costs (even greater savings).

I could not resist the pull of the Maple Burl.  I have three slabs of it waiting to head out to Jim's for some HT2-TLs.  Now I will have a complimentary pair of Song Towers.  :P

Much better than the photos man!  And the RAAL tweeter...well, let's just say it has me wishing I could swap out the LCY's in my SongTower's.

Some people may disagree, or even not notice a difference in SQ, but to my ears the difference between the RAAL and LCY was significant.  The RAAL is every bit as detailed as the LCY but smoother and airier, sometimes sounding even more detailed.  I don't know if it's less distortion or what, but is was oh so silky smooth.  In fact, from another perspective, two of the gentleman I walked the show with on the second day commented how much better the speakers sounded with the RAAL.  They literally went from not caring for them much (last year) to liking them quite a bit.  Again, some may not notice much difference at all, but I know I did, and so did my companions.  And please, don't take this as the LCY being a bad tweeter, as it's not; I still LOVE mine, and would chose it over most tweeters.  But the RAAL is better in every way, and that's just how it is, in my opinion.  And it should be, considering the price difference. :)

I hope that helps.  Time for me to start saving for HT2-TL RAAL's me thinks. :D

P.S.  I walked the entire show and hit almost every room, and Jim's craftsmanship was outgunned by no one.  Like I said, you really have to see his work in person.  :thumb:

i agree. having only seen salks in photos, it was interesting to see the difference of being able to see/touch them. really high level of craftsmanship - i would the phrase "a picture doesn't do them justice" might be a little misleading, although i have heard others say it. the reason i say this is the salks i think look great in photos. however,  i was suprised to find to my eyes the "wolf" songbirds seemed to "pop" less in the flesh than on camera. they seemed more refined and blended smoother than in the photos - it was almost as if the camera seems to slightly over-exaggerate the contrasts, at least to my eyes. if this sounds like a criticism i should add i like the in person look more.
