Better bass from UFW-10 Sub
« on: 26 Sep 2010, 04:58 am »
Hi,

I have a AV123 sub sitting directly (no spikes) on a hardwood floor which is above a crawl space. Any ideas for something I can put under the sub for better bass? It would need to be something very unobtrusive as it is in a new addition and the wife just barely tolerates it as it is. I had sorbothane footers for a ONIX DAC and I put a couple of them under front of sub (misplaced others when DAC went into storage) but I'm open to other ideas.

Go vertical - get it higher up.  22% of the room height.  Perhaps a nice thick maple cutting board with some spikes will get you started.

Hi,

I found this Lovan Jazz 600 to sound excellent as a stand for sub.  It cleans up the bass very nicely--reduces muddiness, overhang, added punch, pitch, articulation and  speed.  It was a surprise discovery that has been a main staple for subs for me for quite a few years now.  I have a few of these on pretty much all of my family members' subs.  Highly recommended!  Much better than simple spikes on the sub itself.  Be sure to use the supplied spikes though for the above benefits.
