This is the Tripath TA3020. About 200WX2 with 45v. This version is the TA3020 v3c from Connexelectronic (basically a one-man business in China, so not the smoothest transaction I've had but he does come through).

The cool thing about this design is that the PS and rectifiers are also integrated, so all I need is to attach a transformer along w/ the soft start circuit (blue piece) and it's good to go.

Curious how it will fare against the CDA-254...

I'll be using a 32V 400VA Antek. Should be enough for my needs.

There are quite a few interesting amps that Cristi has to offer. Wish there was more feedback on some of them like the TDA8920s for instance.

There are several versions of the TA3020. The 3c has inbuilt speaker protection circuit and the PS on-board. Whether the PS on-board compromises the sound quality is a question some people have brought up. So we'll see.

It would be really interesting to compare the TA3020 v3b with one of his SMPS (500 or 1000) to the TA3020 v3c.

Won't your linear PS from your other projects also work?

I think everyone should have a tripath in their collection and I think the 3020 might be the one to own.

The guys over at 41hz seemed to like the 3020 Truepath and the newer variants.

I guess it is very ameteurish just to asume that since it is a 4030 chip it will be comparable, but then again that's why I can't wait for Wushulius feedback!!!

By the way guys Kevin at DIY Cable has a 1KVA 40w Trafo that should be able to run two of these boards. Its on sale right now for less than 100 clams!

Hopefully some info soon    I like to keep my expectations low. I would not be surprised if the 41hz version is better because there is more emphasis on layout and parts quality. However, 41hz amps are a PIA to build unless you're really good with the iron, and documentation has been poor (though I see they are putting together wikis - like 3 years later.. .)

One thing I like about Connexelectronics is the good documentation.  For example THIS document for the TA3020 v3c.  A phenomenon mentioned there is "Bus Pumping" for which it recommends running the stereo channels out of phase with each other, and suggests their 'Balanced Input Phase Shifter', HERE, to achieve this for the input.  Do you have any thoughts on the Bus Pumping issue?????

From what I've read bus pumping is not much of an issue as long as the amp is well-designed and the PS caps are adequate.
