British Bluegrass? Awesome!!

Sigh No More, by Mumford and Sons is my favorite new band that I have found in many years. I love every track on this album  :thumb: I have the extended 17 song version.
" Hands down one of my favorite albums. What I really like is the lyrical writing, Mr Mumford seems to use allot of literary references that ranges from Steinbeck to Shakespeare. Their also seems to be a bit of existentialism in there as well as a delving into the metaphysical. Not much of a folk fan but if there are more bands like these I may have to fall in love with the genre."
The music is moving, exciting, fun, and interesting. There is a celtic, bluegrass, punky vibe to this band that is very refreshing.
Check em out!

Any other fans out there of this band?
Anybody out there ever seen them live?

I bought this CD and thought that it was just O.K. Nothing special for me. It is a little difficult to establish a genre for this band. My first thought was Folk, but it has other elements too as mentioned in the previous post.

Just ok? Really? I've been listening to it rather obsessively!

I think the album is a bit disjointed and I am not sure they will be able to come back with a great follow-up, but some of the songs are brilliant.

As was noted- they have references to many literary & philosophical works... and sure their knowledge of such may be superficial; however I love the way they blend a rustic feel with more "refined" themes.

I think their fusion of genres can either draw people in and turn them away... but it appeals to me, having very ecclectic musical tastes.

I really WANT to see them live, but I don't think I am going to have the opporunity this time 'round :(

They actually have a loose connection to Noah & the Whale (another band I love). Classmates or somesuch as I remember and are collaborators for Mt. Desolation along with brandon Flowers from The Killers and others- album to be released this month!! You can check them out on youtube:
