Looks pretty sweet.  The movie mode of these new cameras is what I find interesting.  I've come across a few YouTube videos shot with digital SLRs and it's instant gold IMHO.  The good glass and shallow DOF really sells it.  Totally puts it in another world.

HD video is standard fair on todays cameras, both of my cameras have it but for some reason it seems most people I know have no use for it.  Myself I've only used it once in the past 9 months.

Good move, George.  That is a much better choice than the D5000.

The D5000 wasn't really a serious choice once I started to get educated.

If the D7000 wasn't coming out, it would have been a D90 or D300s.

Since I usually recommend that people either get the value model or step up to a semi-pro model, could you elaborate?

By all accounts isn't the D5000 entry level and the D7000 semi pro?  I think George is much better off with the choice he made over the D5000.  Now comes the fun and more expensive part - lenses.
