I believe it is, mort - at least, I've seen posts on the Planar Asylum from people who have visited.  Give them a call.   :D

If you are able to tour the factory, can you find out one thing for me?  I'd like to know whether, on the 20.1s, the mid panel is on the same sheet of mylar as the bass panel or whether they are separate drivers.  :)

Good luck,

Andy

Mort,

here's a link to Magnepan's contact info:

Whitebear Lake is about 30 miles northeast of Minneapolis, with the rain/freezing rain coming I suggest going tomorrow if possible. Thursday will not be a good day to drive out there.

Tell them that if they won't come to the Planar Circle, we'll come to them and you're there for an exclusive review of the 3.7s and a complimentary continental breakfast.

You might as well try to visit Bel Canto which is in downtown Minneapolis 8)

I'll bet they'd accomodate you. I've talked to them on the phone and they seem like they get the fact that they are succesful because they have legions of loyal fans. They rewired my 2c's, which were a long discontinued product, and it must have been a PITA for them to put into their workflow. Give 'em call.

Vacationing in Minn. in Dec? Maybe you're from NY.

You can just drop in as well.. But I'd call first as they may have special holiday hours ... Ask Wendel why he feels higher quality fuses don't improve the sound of Maggies :) You could do a loop around the Twin Cities, starting at Magnepan, then heading west out to Plymouth to visit Audio Research, then south to visit Frank Van Alstine, and ending up downtown (Minneapolis) at Bel Canto...

You could also suggest that there's a strong interest in replacements for those little feet that they put on their speakers.  They could be offered as an accessory item direct from the factory.

everyone is getting ready for CES.  You couldn't have picked a worse time to try and see anyone in the audio industry...
