Well, looks like I might wind up being the victim of a smear campaign.

He was tried and acquitted, however I don't agree that it was done properly. He passed the criminal standard of not being guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. However if the evidence that was presented in the civil case, was presented in the criminal case, I'm sure he would have been pronounced guilty.

Remember the blood stains made by a size 13 bruno mawgli (sp?) shoes? In the criminal trial, OJ stated that he would never wear those ugly-ass shoes. The civil case uncovered NFL video of OJ in those exact shoes. He was found to be liable by the civil trial which just has a standard of more likely than not. So it was confirmed in trial that OJ most likely killed those two people. Had that easy to find video had been introduced in the criminal trial, I believe he would have been pronounced guilty.

Also, satire is protected by the first amendment as freedom of speech, so it is not considered slander. If we prosecuted everyone who ever told an OJ joke, most of us would be in jail. At least I'd get to meet Leno. Luckily for the public at large, OJ is in jail as he was trying to recover sports memorabilia at gunpoint.

Sorry If I jacked this thread. I told a joke that nobody got, except I guess, for me. I'll try to show a bit more decorum if that will appease the masses. I do find it a bit odd that the flames started flying even though my opinion coincides with most of the posts, I just had a different way of expressing myself.

But back to Danny...

I wouldn't worry about it.  I think that you have acquitted your position pretty well.  Part of it is that we have seen first time posters show up simply to throw a satchel bomb into the middle of a crowded room and then vamoose.  I don't see you as that type and you made some good points.

I have a tragically warped sense of humor.  Sometimes I just kill me and everyone else (especially my wife, Gayle) just looks on and shakes their heads.

Worry not - bygones.

 Rock on...

  • I'm just not right!
A warped sense of humor is, by definition, not tragic.  Like a fine wine, it takes a long time to nurture to "maturity".

Be proud, Grasshopper.  Few make it to genuine "warp drive".
