FS: Speakers for Local Sale In Houston

I'm accumulating too many speakers, and some must go so I can continue to indulge my obsessive compulsive habit and build more speakers.

1) SOLD Brines Acoustics TT-2000's, using the new Tang Band W8-1772 full range drivers. The 3/4" mdf enclosures are sanded but unfinished, ready for you to paint or veneer. These speakers have bi-wire terminals, with the upper pair wired directly to the driver with no contour filter. The lower pair is connected through Bob's recommended LR BSC filter. $300/pr. SOLD http://fredt300b.smugmug.com/Hobbies/Speakers/132721_wacsQ#705734896_T4Duo

2) Pi Speakers One Pi Towers. The enclosures are 3/4" baltic birch veneer plywood with a natural Danish oil finish. $150/pr http://fredt300b.smugmug.com/Hobbies/Speakers/132721_wacsQ#83941093_v3mXv

3) Jim Griffin design full range single driver MLTL bipole speakers using CSS FR125SR drivers, with a Dayton 3/4" neo supertweeter. The enclosures are Baltic birch veneer plywood. $250/pr http://fredt300b.smugmug.com/Hobbies/Speakers/132721_wacsQ#616868309_fQyk9

4) SOLD Magnepan MMG's with upgraded crossovers and diy elevated stands. $350/pr SOLD  http://fredt300b.smugmug.com/Hobbies/Speakers/132721_wacsQ#626236566_uRjMw

Sorry, no shipping available. For local pickup only at my house in Houston.

Nice builds, wish I were closer. Would love to play with the TB's in Brines cabinets.

Good luck with the sale.

Wow, beautiful speakers!  I am in Austin and trying to determine if and when I can finagle a trip to Houston.  Do you purge the speaker collection often?

Hurry! Somebody is coming over this morning to audition the One Pi's and the Brines TT-2000's. I purge the collection only when I run out of space and my wife gets on my case.

Sorry, only one pair of speakers will fit in the truck, and I don't plan to exhibit any of these at LSAF.

The Brines TT-2000's are sold; the others aren't getting the attention they deserve. These are really good prices, especially for the One Pi Towers. Few other speakers are so compatible with a low power SET amp, none at the $150/pr asking price sound as good.  This is less than the price of the parts kits, and these include upgraded 15ga air core inductors and Clarity Cap SA tweeter caps.  :thumb:

Follow this link to see what SET amp designer Derek Walton had to say about his One Pi Towers: http://www.iol.ie/~waltonaudio/pione.html

Fred,

Nice looking DIY stands for the Maggies. What (now) is the overall height?

Mike, the overall height is 56".  This places the center of the 36" long MMG ribbon element at ear height, so the panel can be positioned vertically.

The Brines Acoustics single drivers and the Magnepan MMG's are sold. Don't overlook the Jim Griffin MLTL full range driver bipoles. Jim is a very talented designer, and each of these towers gets more out of two 4.5" full range drivers than any comparable speaker I have heard, with exceptional bass and none of the shouty quality I hear from Fostex and Lowther drivers. Only $250.
