Hiya Guys,

I thought I'd let all you local vinyl guys know about a (further) find I had today.

A few months back I let you guys know about a Antique Store at the north-east corner of Fee Fee and Olive. One of the vendors had nothing but vinyl, all in pristine condition. Best part they were $2 bucks each.

Well, I stopped in today and checked again. Just so happens he has replenished his stock and more than doubled his inventory. There is tons of old Big Band (think Basie, Ellington, Kenton, Les Brown, and on and on), a fair amount of 70's and 80's R&B and tons of 70's and 80's Rock. If you are into soundtracks, there are tons of those too.

All of them are spotless. It looks like they may have been played once (recorded) and put away. A fair chunk of them are promos.

I walked out with 50. Many are Rock fillers to replace the crappy copies of my originals, that or WLPs. But, I did find 15 or 20 Jazz albums that were well worthy of picking up.

Anyway, just thought you guys might want to know  :thumb:

...oh, they are also all in plastic sleeves  :green:

Happy hunting  :eyebrows:

Sturg,

I grabbed a few Nancy Wilson and Diana Washingtons for you.

I was trying to find some Commodores ...well she's a Brick.....House... in the R&B section but didn't have any luck. We heard that while we were driving the other day. We almost blew the speakers in Laura's new car from playing it so loud   Great song  :green:

Hey Sturg,
Hope you don't mind but we did spin one of your Nancy Wilson lps last night at Scott's house.  Just great.  Scott scored a box full of great vinyl.  We also listened to some Dream Theater, Peter Gabriel, Basie, Janis Ian, etc.  Most of these weren't from the flea market but were new issue vinyl.  Just a great night of listening, swapping cartridges, eating pizza, escaping the heat in my apartment.

Scott,
Thanks for the "Chairman of the Board".  Your reissue might be a little better, but this old one has some good sounds left in it.  Absolutely great plunger work in "Blues in Hoss' Flat"   I'll give the Maynards a spin soon.  And I'm still  about the Japanese singer on that King Record.  My wife Lisa gave us the "you are a bunch of nerds" look when we were playing that one.

Bob,

I think they are open until 6:00 or 7:00 weeknights. Not sure about Sundays   No major worries though, they don't get much traffic from audio/turntable guys. It's mostly your typical 'antique mall', glassware, collectibles, that kind of stuff. The vinyl should be safe for a while...or at least until Sturgus and Steve make it there

Mark,

You're more than welcome on the vinyl  :thumb: Thanks for the pizza! Good trade, vinyl and wire for pizza  :D  I'll have to scan that album and see if Pez (Jason) can translate it.

...well, off to work on Ron's OBs...sawdust, gotta love it  :thumb:
...oh, and the wood shop now has AC

Ron, I will look for some good stuff. Anything in particular you want? I also will be going back to the Record Exchange to see what I can find.I think they still have the 50% off sale. Scott thanks for picking up the Nancy for me. Maybe next week I can get out there and return your alignment tool. Mark I would love to get out and hear the system soon.

Sturgus,

I'm going to be difficult about this...surprise me.   :eyebrows:  Acoustic quartets, quintents, vocals...piano, sax, horns.  Honestly, about anything would be greatly appreciated.

Guys, that antique mall at Olive and Fee Fee is having an August sale.  All the $2 records in that booth are now down to $1.40 each.  I scored two direct-disc records there yesterday!  Some other booths have vinyl, but pricey.  Nice place, that.
