usb3 to usb2 extension

Hi,

wanted to post in http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=94570.msg945399#msg945399 but the forum software asked me to maken a new topic.

Today I received my WD Passport 1tb se, with a usb3 cable of about 40 cm....way too short of course for connecting it to my BDP1 in my setup. I have an extension-cable usb 2, but have no idea whether this is alright or whether I need to buy a longer usb3 cable. Since it is usb2 downward compatible I would presume it to be sufficient.

Do you have any experience in this matter? Please let me know,

The Pasport 3 won't accept a USB 2 connection. Haven't yet found a quality cable manufactuter that makes a good quality USB 3 cable. Looks like you'll have to use your USB2 extension.
Has anyone out there found a high quality USB3 cable yet?

btw, anyone buy the Audioquest marketing of their USB cables? 495Euro seems rather steep...
